During a recent engagement with top U.S. venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the nation’s prowess in technology, manufacturing, and innovation. He urged for enhanced collaboration to foster the development of future global technology enterprises. President Lee cited South Korea’s sophisticated digital infrastructure, proficient workforce, and rapid implementation abilities as key factors positioning the country as a prime investment destination.

In a bid to attract foreign expertise and investment, President Lee committed to implementing supportive government measures. These include reforming visa policies for international experts, bolstering partnerships between businesses and research institutions, and increasing funding to fuel startup growth. His efforts underscore South Korea’s ambition to strengthen its appeal and competitiveness in the global tech market.

A significant milestone during Lee’s visit was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between South Korea’s National Pension Service and six prominent U.S. venture capital firms. This agreement aims to deepen investment collaboration and fortify connections with South Korea’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, highlighting a mutual commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Apart from engaging with venture capitalists, President Lee also took the opportunity to connect with overseas Koreans and tech industry leaders. His meetings included discussions with executives from major companies such as Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai, Nvidia, OpenAI, Broadcom, and Anthropic, furthering dialogue on advancing technological cooperation. As part of his broader international agenda, Lee’s itinerary included a subsequent visit to Brazil, where he seeks to enhance economic and strategic alliances as part of his multi-nation tour.
